Guidelines to Ensure a Successful Project
Stay Updated Through Buildertrend.
Make Timely Project Decisions.
Making selections and project-related decisions as quickly as possible is one of the most important ways to keep your project on schedule. Many parts of your build depend on timely choices—materials must be ordered in advance, subcontractors need clear direction, and schedules must be coordinated weeks ahead. Delays in selections often lead to backorders, rescheduling, or gaps in the workflow. When decisions are made promptly, we can secure the right products on time, maintain steady progress, and ensure that every phase of your project moves forward smoothly and efficiently.
Make Timely Payments to Keep Progress Moving
Paying your invoices on time is an important part of keeping your project on schedule. Each payment supports the work of subcontractors, suppliers, and trades who rely on timely funds to continue progress without delays. Using the secure online payment system within Buildertrend ensures your bills are processed quickly, recorded accurately, and applied directly to your project budget. When invoices are paid promptly, materials can be ordered on time, crews can stay on site, and the entire workflow moves forward smoothly. Consistent, timely payments help us maintain momentum and deliver your project efficiently from start to finish.
Review Your Budget and Invoices Regularly
It is your responsibility to review your own project budget vs. actual money spent (in Buildertrend) and review your monthly owner invoices, as well as the individual invoices from our subs and suppliers. When you pay your monthly bill, you are telling us that all is well with your budget versus actual and that you have no questions or issues about any invoices. Of course, if you do have questions or issues, please address them with your Project Manager and our Office Manager so that we may deal with them.
Communicate Directly With Your Project Manager
Minimize conversations and communication with subs who are working on/in your home. This especially applies to inspectors. If you have questions about your custom built house, home remodel or renovation project, your schedule, pricing, or potential changes, discuss these matters with your Project Manager, not with our subcontractors or suppliers.
Work With Our Trusted Subs and Suppliers
We partner with experienced local subcontractors and suppliers who understand our standards and are committed to delivering quality work on time and within budget. Bringing in your own subs or suppliers can create delays, quality concerns, and warranty complications that McSwain Builders cannot take responsibility for. To ensure the best results and a smooth project from start to finish, we strongly recommend working with our established, proven team of professionals who know our process and are dedicated to getting your project done the right way.
Report Any Concerns Promptly
Don’t let concerns fester! If there is anything whatsoever that is making you feel uncomfortable or uneasy about the way we are managing your project, please share your concerns with us at once so that we may address them! McSwain Builders in Glenwood Springs is the custom home building and renovation company of choice in the Roaring Fork Valley. As such, we would rather talk them out in real time instead of at the end of a project.
